Chris Alder
Executive Coach,
Zen Priest,
Founder of The Executive Wisdom Partner Institute
For the past two decades, I’ve been walking two seemingly different paths: the world of executive leadership and the stillness of Zen.

One has taught me how systems move.
The other, how people awaken.

Today, these paths converge—not only in the leaders I support, but in the coaches I now train through the Executive Wisdom Partner Institute.

I don’t coach roles. I partner with people—and increasingly, I steward a way of working that invites wisdom itself into the room.
My Philosophy
Leadership is no longer about control. It’s about coherence.
When presence deepens, coaching becomes transpersonal. The conversation extends beyond the two people involved and opens to a wider field of intelligence. Decisions shaped from this place ripple far beyond the room—into teams, organizations, and the systems they influence.

My coaching is multidimensional. It draws on:
-
Business strategy and Integral Theory
-
Psychological insight and shadow work
-
Emotional intelligence and relational repair
-
Spiritual presence and contemplative depth
This is not performance coaching.
This is deep partnership for evolutionary leadership.
The Work Today
My work now unfolds in three interconnected ways:

-
Partnering with senior leaders in moments of transition and expansion
-
Training experienced coaches through the Executive Wisdom Partner Institute
-
Facilitating learning journeys and leadership offsites that cultivate collective wisdom

At its core, this work is about coherence—within the individual, within teams, and within the systems we shape.

When coaches and leaders learn to partner from stillness and surrender personal authorship, the impact of a single conversation can extend far beyond what either person intended.

My Journey
My path to becoming an Executive Wisdom Partner has not been linear.
It has unfolded across cultures, communities, disciplines, and states of consciousness — each chapter shaping how I listen, lead, and serve.

In my early years, I travelled the world as a private chef, immersed in diverse cultures and the unspoken language of hospitality. Those years taught me to read energy, sense nuance, and attend to what is not being said. I wasn’t just learning about food — I was learning presence, humility, and the deeper patterns of human experience.

Eventually, I followed a deeper inner call and spent three years living in an intentional spiritual community in Scotland, where daily life became a container for awakening. Silence, service, and shared practice stripped away excess and revealed what remains when identity softens.

Over time, further pilgrimages through India, South America, Central America, South Africa, and Thailand continued that refinement. These were not trips for experience; they were thresholds — moments that dismantled certainty and reshaped how I understand leadership, surrender, and responsibility.

Professionally, for more than two decades, I have guided senior leaders, entrepreneurs, and teams through transition, expansion, and systemic change. I’ve facilitated leadership offsites, designed developmental journeys, and coached executives within some of the world’s most influential organisations. For over 11 years, I’ve also served as faculty at Integral Coaching Canada, training other coaches to hold developmental depth with rigour and integrity.

Beneath and through it all runs the thread of Zen. A discipline of stillness woven into every conversation, every decision, every threshold. It is this synthesis — strategic and spiritual, grounded and transcendent — that now informs both my executive partnerships and the work of the Executive Wisdom Partner Institute.

This isn’t just my profession.
It’s the shape of my life.
